In- 1986, the Givon unit, a reserve unit in the operations directorate, was established to coordinate and link the IDF with US armed forces in light of events that occurred after the first lebanon war, such as the attacks on multinational force bases in beirut. The alliance is making a military diplomatic effort against israel, with the aim of preventing the IDF from attacking iraq in response to the firing of surface-to-surface missiles at israel.
