A reserve battalion originally established as a- 229th Battalion in- 1971 and its main function was to lay and clear mines.
The name of the "Savyon" battalion was obtained after the Yom Kippur War in which the battalion used the communications network called "Savyon" and also its number was changed during this period to- 7026.
