195th Assault Helicopter Company Headquarters Platoon patch

The 195th Aviation Company was activated in August 1967 at Fort Carlson, Colorado. The 195th deployed to Vietnam arriving 17 October 1967 and made their base of operation at Bear Cat in III Corps Tactical Zone. The 195th received in-counrty orientation and training and were declared operation Ready and underwent a name change and became the 195th Assault Helicopter Company Company and assumed their duties in III Coprs Tactical Zone. The company was assigned to the 222nd Combat Aviation Battalion, 12th Combat Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade. The 195th was comprised of three flight platoons, 1st Flight Platoon "Sky Chiefs", 2nd Flight Platoon "Ghost Riders" and 3rd Platoon Guns "Thunder Chickens". The 195th AHC was the only Assault Helicopter Company assigned to "MACV" (Military Assistance Command Vietnam) SOG or as the were know "The Study and Observations Group. The 195th primary mission was supporting SOG's Command and Control South Special Operation's over the border into Cambodia and Laos in the Parrot's Beak and Fish Hook Areas. The 195th AHC was one of two Assault Helicopter Companies along with the 240th AHC in Vietnam to fly camouflage Helicopters. The 195th 3rd Platoon Gunships did extensive damage to the enemy during the 1968 TET Offensive in III Corps Tactical Zone. The 195th AHC stood-down 14 December 1970.
