French Foreign Legion 13th Demi Brigade 1st Company pocket badge

Price: 50 - 100 $

1er Compagnie de la 13e DBLE insigne
1st Company of the 13th DBLE badge. The company was created from the 1st Company of the Foreign Legion battalion of Madagascar (BLEM) which was sent to the Cote française des Somalis (CFS) or French Somaliland in March 1961. The company was based at Oueah and was composed of a command section and four combat sections. During reorganization in 1968 it hands Oueah over to the Recon section 13 DBLE and moves to Dikhil. In 1977 when the country gained independence it again moved to its new base at Obock in Djibouti.
The 1st company was dissolved on the 26 August 1978.
The badge was created in April 1974 and made by L.R.Paris but mistakenly had gold flames instead of black, a second model was produced by L.R.Paris in July 1974 with the error corrected. All examples were numbered, some with Roman numerals and others with Arab numerals. Silver examples were made for Officers.
