The 21st company of the 61st Engineer battalion was created on the 16th August 1949 and based in the center of Hanoi (Tran Phu street), the mission of the company was the recovery and repair of equipment and construction work on Delta fortifications and the de Lattre line, the company also held positions and conducted operations on the Route Colonials 2 and 3 and was active in the battle at Hoa Binh.
The company was dissolved on 1st October 1955 in Cochinchine.
The badge was created in 1949 and was made by Drago Paris 25 R Beranger Depose and Drago Paris Nice 43 Rue Olivier Metra. Silver examples were made for officers.
