On March 26, 1996 9th Special Forces Brigade was renamed into 50th Special Forces Training Center under Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. Most of the officers and graduates took part in peacekeeping operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, Sierra Leone and Kosovo. During a peace time engineers-scouts of the 50th Special Forces Training Center repeatedly perform explosive ordnance (mainly ammunition from the Second World War) disposal missions on the territory of Kirovograd, Mykolayiv, Cherkasy regions. In December 2003 the unit was renamed once again. Since then it is 50th Independent Special Forces Training Detachment.
