Police Field Force (PPH) was the name of Royal Malaysian Police special task force established for the purpose against communist terrorists in the forest. Initially the new police arm was called the Flying Squad, later it was renamed the "Jungle Squad", in 1951 Jungle Squad restructured and became known as "Jungle Company", in 1953, it became known by the name Police Field Force (PPH). It was deployed to infiltrate and track down communist insurgents operating in the jungles of Malaya.
Following the disarmament of the Malayan Communist Party on 2 December 1989, the Police Field Force was reorganized, downsized and changed its name to the General Operations Force (PGA) on 20 October 1997. Its tasks had become more varied and include now provision of security to dignitaries, buildings and royal residence, protecting the security of borders and territorial waters of invasion threats and illegal immigrants, robbery and smuggling at sea, carrying out tasks to help maintain the public order and preventing the crime.
