The decoration is awarded upon completing a required conditions (positive evaluation report, First Aid Course, NBC Test, Basic Fitness Test, Pistol Marksmanship Event, Foot March, 100 meter swim in Military Uniform) and worn by German soldiers of all ranks. Allied soldiers may also be awarded the badge, subject to their nations' uniform regulations.
