MACV-SOG Recon Team Bushmaster patch, type 2

The second generation Recon Team Bushmaster pocket patch was designed by David Robinson and Eldon Bargewell in early 1971. The shield shaped insignia is divided diagonally with half the patch black and the other white, in the center of the patch is an eagle in flight with lightning bolts in its talons. Across the top of the patch reads: RT BUSHMASTER with CCN across the base.
RT Bushmaster (CCN) Command and Control North:
In addition to their standard Recon Operations, elements of RT Bushmaster were also utilised by the top-secret USASA (U.S. Army Security Agency) in a role similar to that of the Radio Research Units. This is noted in this style patch's Eagle clutching the Radio Signals (lightning bolts). In this capacity, RT Bushmaster was charged with the location and, or destruction of Enemy transmission points, as well as the sending of false messages to confuse enemy elements listening in.
