Harka No 8 was a pro French Arab militia unit with legion NCO s and officers. When fighting the FLN in Algeria they caused considerable casualties but in 1962 the FLN got their revenge on the members of the Harka and former French serving Algerians and they were mostly murdered with their families, over 100,000 were killed. The 13 DBLE looked after its loyal Harka and managed to smuggle most of them to France.
The badge is rare.
